JAT Yugoslavia airlines flight 367

26 January 1972, JAT flight 367 has landed at Copenhagen Denmark from Sweden and was now preparing to depart to Belgrade, Serbia with a halt at Zagreb, Croatia. The DC-9 plane was carrying 23 passengers and 5 crew. The captain was Ludvik-Razdrih and first officer Ratko-Mihic.

When the plane landed from its previous flight the new crew noticed one passenger who was angry. After the plane was cleaned and fueled the new passengers and crew boarded the plane unaware that something terrible would happen to the plane while it was in the air . The plane taxied to the runway and lifted off.

Then 44 minutes after take-off everything was normal as the plane is now flying over east Germany. Then

the flight attendants started serving drinks and meals. Just then an explosion goes off in the baggage compartment at the bottom of the plane and the plane toar  into 2 pieces. A flight attendant Vesna-Vulovic was in the middle of the plane when the explosion happened. A food trolley pushed her to the very back of the plane preventing her from falling out after the explosion. 19 people were sucked out of the plane. The back of the plane landed in a pile of snow and Vesna-Vulovic was the only survivor. She was rescued by a villager named Bruno-Honke, who was medic in the World War II. He kept her alive before she was taken to the hospital where she fully recovered

An investigation was launched to why the plane blew up. The cause was suspected to be a bomb planted in the cargo hold back at Sweden airport. Though there are controversies that plane was actually flying at a low altitude and was targeting a political leader who was flying nearby. The wreckage was the plane that was found were close to each other, which confirmed this controversy.

to my readers I will only suggest that it is always advisable to keep wearing your seatbelt unless you are moving. Maybe more passengers could have survived if they were wearing seatbelts.
