British Midland flight 92

8 January 1989 British midland flight 92 is departing to Belfast Ireland from London. There are a total of 118 passengers and 8 crew. The captain is Kevin-Hunt and first officer David-McClelland. The plane taxis to the runway and lifts off right on schedule. As the plane reaches cruising altitude the pilots and the people smell smoke from the engine.

The captain asks the copilot where the smoke is coming from, the copilot says the left engine. Then people see the fan blade in the left engine brake off and flames coming from that engine. The pilot diverted the plane to East Midland International airport the place where the company of British Midland founded.

The pilots aimed at the runway and told everyone to brace. Just then the plane went steep noise dive and headed toward M1 motorway. The pilots took down the landing gear and the plane bounced on the road and slammed right into a grassy field near the airport and broke into 3 sections. Then the people in the cars headed toward the sight to help.

Then ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars came soon. It was clear that 87 survived. Investigaton found out that the cause was a fuel pipe burst in that engine. In conclusion the maintenance of engines should be proper the end.
