Helios flight 552

14 August 2005 Helios airways flight 552 is departing to Prague  Czech Republic from Larnaca Cyprus with a stop at Athens Greece airport.

The pilots who were flying the plane were Hans-jurgen a 59 year old German and the first officer was Pampos Charalambous. The plane is a Boeing 737-31S. There are a total of 155 passengers and 6 crew.

When the plane was clear for take off , plane took off . 1hour later. oxygen masks fell because the cabin became de-pressurized because one of the doors wasn't closed properly. Everyone put on there masks.

2 minutes later everyone fainted including the pilot. But the plane was still in the air on auto pilot. Two fighter jets are on one side of the plane, they are watching as the plane is going. Then both fighter jets run out of fuel and go back. However two flight attendants are sill conscious. They are wearing proper masks. They get to the cockpit and take control.

3 minutes later the plane runs out of fuel. Both flight attendants are trying to land but too late. The plane crashes above a mountain in Greece and no one had survived. It has become the the deadliest crash in Greece.

Investigation found that when the plane was inspected a day before, the pressurized system was set to a manual and never got reverted to auto. When the plane went over the altitude of 10,000 feet oxygen level dropped which caused all the passengers including the pilot to faint.

The Helios airline went out of business in 2006 after this incident.
